Thursday 8th of May 2008
Today was a heavy operating day to compensate from yesterday’s cut down. Medical and post-op consultations were also numerous. Dr C. Tabatabay performed 8 diffrent surgeries assisted by local surgeons: one cataract surgery (phakoemulsification), one vitrectomy and repositioning IOL (intra-ocular lens), 3 vitrectomies of diabetic retinopathies plus injection silicone oil and 3 vitrectomies on macula holes. This surgery and consultaton programme was finished after 7pm. In the evening we were kindly invited for dinner by Moka Eye Hospital medical staff and consultants.

Wednesday 7th of May 2008
Wednesday operating and consultation list was cut down due to an appointment in the afternoon with Dr.K. Pauvaday, Ministry of Health and Quality of Life, Principal Medical Officer. During the morning Dr Tabatabay performed 5 surgeries including a corneal graft (keratoplasty) and a retinal detachment. In between cases he also performed consultations and guided surgeons in other operating theatres.

Friday 2nd to Tuesday 6th Mai 2008
Dr. Cyrus Tabatabay, Mr Aboo Moossajee and Mr Stephen Moossajee left Geneva on Friday, May 2nd for a new mission in Mauritius.
Dr Tabatabay donated medical books to the internal Library. Disposable material has been generously donated by Huco Vision, Switzerland.
This week’s mission is to teach surgical techniques for diabetic retinopathy. Within 2 days, Dr. Tabatabay and his team carried out 10 difficult cases of vitrectomies.
