Golaz Pharmacie Internationale de LausanneMr. Golaz from La Pharmacie Internationale de Lausanne has kindly offered his services to our missions to Mauritius by providing us subdivided Indocyanine powder from a multi dose to several single doses. This coloured substance is used to help detect the membrane to be peeled at the macula during vitrectomy surgery.

We would like to thank him for the work and help he kindly gives us.

Wednesday 30th January to Friday 1st February

On Wednesday Dr. Tabatabay performed 5 difficult vitrectomies, they were all diabetic retinopathy with severe adhesion vitreous traction at the optic nerve. In between cases Dr. Tabatabay supervised other surgeons who were also performing vitrectomies.

Thursday, we started late due to cyclone Gula, the warning was lift off around 11am. The day’s program was five difficult vitrectomies (diabetic retinopathy) membrane peeling, Dr. Tabatabay also performed another lot of consultations and finally checked up the weeks cases.

Thursday evening we were invited by Minister of Health and Quality of Life Satya Veyash Faugoo at the Hilton’s hotel in Flac for a thank you dinner towards to Digital Retinal Camera.

Early Friday morning was already time to get back to the airport to fly back to Geneva.
Our Next mission is scheduled for beginning of May.
