On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, a special event was organised in favour of IRIS (International Ressouces for the Improvement of the Sight) and of the T.E.S. Foundation at the Palais de l’Athénée, in Geneva.
IRIS, partner of T.E.S. Foundation, was founded in 1996 by Michèle Claudel, President. Its mission is to contribute to the improvement of eye care services in developing countries in Asia, more particularly in Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Laos.
To celebrate this special evening, a piano recital was given by Julien Quentin, a French young musician who shares his time between Berlin, Geneva and New York, and who was awarded prices in the United States, Argentina and Italy . He played pieces from Robert Schubert, Félix Mendelssohn and Frédéric Chopin.
We wish to thank all those who showed their support by attending this special evening. We also would like to express our gratitude to all of you who contributed financially to help IRIS and T.E.S. accomplish their mission.
Your support makes the difference.

Moka Hospital surgeons and team during vitrectomy surgery.
In September, Dr Nicolas Leveziel, from Paris, stayed for three weeks in Mauritius, working with the medical team of the Moka Hospital. They consulted many patients and performed complex retinal surgery.
Dr Cyrus Tabatabay flew from Geneva to Mauritius on October 16, to work at the Moka Hospital and to meet people from Mauritius interested in helping T.E.S. Foundation acquire important medical instruments for the Moka Hospital.
Dr Tabatabay brought material from Switzerland used during surgery, such as intra-ocular lenses, and, especially, a indirect retinoscope used for daily clinical retina evaluation.
Mr. Golaz from La Pharmacie Internationale de Lausanne has kindly offered his services to our missions to Mauritius by providing us subdivided Indocyanine powder from a multi dose to several single doses. This coloured substance is used to help detect the membrane to be peeled at the macula during vitrectomy surgery.
We would like to thank him for the work and help he kindly gives us.

MBC1 Evening News:
Listen to The Honourable Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam talk about diabetes:

During my last trip to Mauritius,
Moka ‘s Eye Hospital handed over to me 34 instruments needing to be sharpened and fixed. I’ve been able to send these to UlrichSwiss, a manufacturer which I was in relation with during my last main job. Mister Christophe Ulrich, the son of this small family company accepted to revise and sharpen those instruments in the sake of the Foundation.
What was my surprise when I received these in return! All were sharpened out and out of the 34 instruments 6 were replaced by new material due to irreversible damage they had. All this has been done for Free for the benefits of T.E.S.Foundation.
I would like to thank again UlrichSwiss and specially Christophe for his generosity and humanity.
