The Teaching Eye Surgery Foundation (T.E.S.) was established in Geneva in May 2007, with the support of the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) – Geneva University teaching hospital , the Department of Health of the Canton of Geneva and the Minsitry of Health and Quality of Life of Mauritius. T.E.S. is a Swiss non-profit foundation and as such is managed, supervised and audited in strict accordance with the requirements of the laws and regulations of both the Swiss federal government and the Geneva authorities.

T.E.S. brings its medical and surgical expertise to the field of severe eye pathologies, with particular emphasis on the prevention and treatment of the complications of diabetic retinopathy, a frequent cause of blindness in Mauritius and Seychelles where diabetes is common

T.E.S. focuses on the teaching of vitrectomy and retinal detachment procedures. T.E.S.’s other areas of expertise lie in the prevention and treatment of glaucoma; it also specialises in surgical procedures such as the treatment of cataract, the correction of strabism, as well as in corneal transplantation

In addition, in connection with the acquisition of sophisticated medical equipment and instruments, T.E.S. ensures that appropriate and thorough training in their effective use is provided to local practitioners and surgeons.

T.E.S. is keen to develop partnerships and find donors to finance and acquire its equipment.

Pre-Foundation collaborations started in October 2005 with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG, Switzerland) and Moka eye Hospital (Moka, Mauritius). T.E.S is now primarily active at Souillac Hospital in Mauritius and runs missions through Seychelles and Rodrigues (with governmental Memorandum of understanding).

We are active through the Indian Ocean region
