Welcome to the site of the
Teaching Eye Surgery Foundation (T.E.S.)
Started in May 2007, T.E.S. is a Swiss-registered humanitarian foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. T.E.S. is present and active in Mauritius in particular and in a number of countries in the Indian Ocean. All T.E.S. staff members (from ancillary support to surgeons) provide their services to and on behalf of the Foundation on a purely voluntary basis.
T.E.S.’s mission is to train local surgeons in state-of-the-art eye surgery and to assist health delivery structures (hospitals, clinics and practices) in acquiring up-to-date ophthalmology equipment - and, importantly, to train local practitioners in their use.
T.E.S.’s activities are based at the Moka Eye Hospital (MEH) in Mauritius. It is T.E.S.’s intention to develop, in collaboration with the Mauritian authorities, MEH into one of the leading institutions in
ophthalmology eye surgery in the region, covering the Indian Ocean and East Africa.
